Sushmita takes over Katrina

Till recently it was the beautiful Katrina Kaif who was to essay the role of Jaya Bachchan in RGV'S SHOLAY. Rumour has it that Ram Gopal Varma had some accent issues with her and so he replaced her with Sushmita Sen. Varma informed a daily that the script and characters have undergone many changes which is why he decided to cast Sushmita, thereby rubbishing the accent rumours. He infact said that he was looking forward to working with Katrina in future and that she had tremendous untapped potential.
Rumour also has it that Kajol has been roped in to play Basanti, refuting the buzz about Esha Deol playing Basanti. Hema Malini was seen riding a 'Tanga' in the film, so lets see what Kajol rides.
Apparently RGV'S SHOLAY has a modern city look with lots of changes. Amitabh Bachchan's new look as 'Gabbar Singh' was recently unveiled. That itself goes to prove how different RGV'S SHOLAY is from the original one.

Katrina Kaif turns serious now!

The latest buzz doing the rounds about Katrina Kaif is that the gorgeous model-turned actress is signed by director Rituparno Ghosh to play Devi Choudharni in Bankim Chandra’s similarly named classic. The novel is based on the life of village girl Prafulla who is married into a zamindar's family. Ill-treated by her in-laws, she is forced to leave the house. After her mother's death she meets the notorious dacoit Bhavani Pathak, who encourages her to take part in devotional activities and christens her Devi Choudharani. Confriming the news Kat says, “Yes, I'm doing Devi Choudharani with Rituparno Ghosh. The film should go on the floor early next year and it will be made in Hindi. Rituji has explained the character that I have to play in detail to me. It's a dynamic character and it will be my first woman-oriented film.”Devi Choudharani will be one of Ritu's mega-budget films with plans of plans of shooting the entire film in Bangladesh, with some scenes in India.

Katrina's 'skirt' row in Ajmer shrine

Devotees have raised strong objection over Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif wearing a skirt to Khwaja Moinudeen Chishti's shrine at Ajmer, over 140 km from here.
Many have objected to Katrina wearing western outfits inside the shrine, which did not cover her legs completely, when a large number of people were offering their prayers.
"The shrine members should not have allowed Katrina to keep part of her legs uncovered," said Iqbal, a pilgrim.
The actor was in the shrine with her co-star Rishi Kapoor to shoot for producer-director Vipul Shah's "Namaste London".
There was also a commotion when several people jostled with each other to get a glimpse of the stars.
The silence maintained by Anjuman secretary Sayed Mohin Hussain Chisti over the issue is being objected by others.
Anjuman is a representative body of Khadims, who are workers of the shrine and claim to be descendants of the Sufi saint. It is alleged the film was being shot in his presence and he did not object.
"Due to the presence of large number of people, I could not see the dress worn by Katrina," said Chisti. "I was at a distance and it looked to me as if she was wearing a full dress," he added.
According to tradition, women offering prayers in the shrine must have their head, hands and legs covered.

Katrina is Radha but who's Basanti?

What we were planning to do in August is a technical kick-off for Sholay. Perhaps people presumed the project was delayed because there was no shooting with the stars.The stars were never meant to shoot in August. As for Ajay Devgan asking for changes in the script, he has never asked me for a script, let alone changes. We've worked together twice before (in Company and Sarkar) and there's no problem at all."Ramu who's all set to release Shiva in September says nothing can stop Sholay. "Except for Mr Bachchan as Gabbar there's no other casting in Sholay that can determine or destroy its prospects. I'm very clear about making Sholay and how I want to make it.I don't know why people all round me seem so hell-bent to see the project go down. I'm sorry to disappoint the dooms-day prophets. But Sholay is starting in September. I'm wrapping it up by year-end to start Sarkar 2 with Amitji and Abhishek and then another project with Amitji early next year."Having just just directed AB in Nishabd, Ramu is speechless. "I don't want to sound boastful…but then on the other hand I don't mind if I do. I feel Amitji has given his career's best performance in Nishabd. Watching the film I feel he has completely surpassed everyone expectations, including my own which is saying a lot."Reverting to his favourite topic Ramu says, "The casting for Sholay is all in place, but not Basanti. Why is everyone so keen to know who'll play Basanti? Let me confess the character won't be the same Basanti as Hemaji in the original Sholay. This is a different Sholay that will reflect a new sensibility (mine) and a contemporary reality. We can't have Gabbar Singh on a horse and a Basanti on a tonga any more." In fact all the original characters may not have the same names.Is Karisma Kapoor going to be a part of Ram Gopal Varma's Sholay?A report that Karisma might be making a comeback with Ram Gopal Varma's Sholay has the enterprising Ramu baffled. "I've no idea where that came from. Very honestly I haven't thought of Karisma Kapoor in any film for the last five years. Where her name cropped up from for Sholay, I don't know." Though Katrina Kaif has been cast for the widow Radha's role the boisterous Basanti's part remains vacant. "It isn't going to be the kind of Basanti that Hema Malini played, that's for sure," reveals Ramu. "My Sholay transposes the milieu and the characters to a more contemporary setting." Right now Ramu has shot forty percent of his new film Darling. "It's not a love story. It's a romantic thriller-comedy. It's very difficult, almost impossible to define its genre. It's that unique in its content and treatment. I've shot with Fardeen before. But never with Bipasha and Esha."Ramu's other directorial venture Shiva is ready for release. "I was tied up with solving my production problems. There was no control on the creative or financial level. I lost control over my projects. That's why I had stopped the release of all my films.Now my house is in order. Now I'm again ready to start releasing my films. Ram Gopal Varma productions has four releases till September-end. Shiva is complete. Darling is on the floors. And I'm starting Sholay next month. I'll do a bit of shooting and then start again full force in November."

Silk-n-Shine ropes in Katrina Kaif as its brand ambassador

MUMBAI: As brands battle it out to gain prominence in the competitive hair care segment, another FMCG major Marico has signed on supermodel and Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif as the brand ambassador for the post-wash conditioner Silk-n-Shine.

Earlier Tips had made Bobby Deol-Preity Zinta starrer superhit film ‘Soldier' with Abbas-Mustan.

Katrina is Lakme's face of the year
Though film offers may not be flowing in towards the hot lass Katrina Kaif, the damsel is surely among the most sought after faces on the modeling front. Katrina has been selected as the face of this year for the Lakme India Fashion week.
